Van der Drift maakt racedebuut voor Team Nieuw-Zeeland

Chris van der Drift kan zich opmaken voor zijn racedebuut in de A1 Grand Prix. Team Nieuw-Zeeland heeft besloten om de International Formula Masters-kampioen komend weekend in China te laten rijden in plaats van de 18-jarige Earl Bamber.

Bamber had tijdens het openingsweekend op Circuit Park Zandvoort nog knap het podium gehaald. In China zit Van der Drift echter achter het stuur. Ik heb op internet videos van het circuit van Chengdu bestudeerd en het ziet er krap en bochtig uit. Rijden in de GP2 is voor mij een goede voorbereiding geweest, die auto is te vergelijken met een A1 Grand Prix-wagen, het zijn allebei grote bolides.
