A1 Grand Prix voegt Surfers Paradise toe aan kalender

Australië prijkt volgend jaar weer op de A1 Grand Prix-kalender. Dit jaar is het land de grote afwezige in het schema, na jaren met races op het circuit van Eastern Creek. Volgend seizoen reist de A1 Grand Prix weer af naar Australië, maar naar een andere baan. Het bekende circuit van Surfers Paradise vormt op 25 oktober 2009 het strijdtoneel van twee races.

A1 Grand Prix-baas Tony Teixeira: We wilden graag terug naar Australië en dit is de perfecte locatie voor onze serie. Een boel mensen hebben hard gewerkt om dit vijfjarige contract op te stellen en nu dat is gelukt begint het te kriebelen. Ik ben me bewust dat dit het ideale circuit is om om de A1 Grand Prix aan de Australische fans, die de serie en hun team altijd gesteund hebben, te presenteren. Australië heeft een rijke autosportgeschiedenis en ik weet zeker dat onze televisiekijkers zich verheugen op de races op deze prachtige locatie.
