Bleekemolen baalt van straf

Jeroen Bleekemolen was niet te spreken over de straf die hij kreeg uitgedeeld van de wedstrijdleiding. Volgens de Nederlander kostte de straf hem een zekere podiumfinish.

Bij de start van de hoofdrace kwam Bleekemolen in aanraking met Narain Karthikeyan van team India. Karthikeyan kon zijn weg niet vervolgen en was klaar met de race.

Volgens Bleekemolen kon hij daar niets aan doen. Ik vind deze straf onterecht. Team Engeland voor mij remde erg hard waardoor ik ook hard af moest remmen. Op dat zelfde moment zat team India naast mij. Op dat moment waren er nog maar twee opties. Eén achterop team Engeland rijden, of twee naar rechts gaan en dan Karthikeyan raken. Het spijt me voor hem, maar ik kon hier gewoon helemaal niets aan doen. Ik had geen keuze. Ik vind het dan ook erg onterecht dat ik hiervoor gestraft ben. Als ik deze straf niet had gekregen had ik zeker op het podium kunnen eindigen. We waren daar in ieder geval snel genoeg voor, vertelt Bleekemolen tegen de pitreporter van A1 Grand Prix.
