Team Duitsland stelt terugkeer uit

A1 Grand Prix-team Duitsland stelt zijn terugkeer uit tot in februari. Het kampioenschap-winnende team zal, onder leiding van de nieuwe seatholder Rolf Beisswanger, waarschijnlijk pas terugkeren tijdens het weekeinde in Gauteng, eind februari.

Beisswanger: "Ik ben diep teleurgesteld dat we nog niet kunnen terugkeren. Sinds mijn aanstelling hebben we fulltime gewerkt om een team neer te zetten waar ons land trots op kan zijn. Het positieve is dat we meer tijd krijgen om ons voor te bereiden. We willen direct winnen bij terugkomst, dus we moeten goed voorbereid zijn."

Bij de definitieve terugkomst van het team zal het op rijdersvlak worden bijgestaan door een oude bekende: Andre Lotterer. De ervaren Duitser was in het verleden testrijder bij het Formule 1-team van Jaguar en kwam recent uit in de Japanse Formule Nippon.
