Organisatie bevestigt Mexico City als seizoensafsluiter

Mexico City is dit jaar gastheer van de laatste A1 Grand Prix-race van het seizoen 2008/2009. Brands Hatch stond oorspronkelijk ingeroosterd als seizoensafsluiter, maar de organisatie moest voor het evenement in Mexico City een nieuwe datum verzinnen. De eerder vastgestelde datum was onbeschikbaar door een concert van Radiohead op het circuit.

A1 Grand Prix-directeur Pete da Silva: Het is belangrijk voor onze serie om naar Mexico City te gaan, helemaal omdat die locatie is bekroond met een award voor de race in het derde seizoen. De fans heten ons daar altijd warm welkom en het is mooi om hen getuige te laten zijn van de finale van het eerste seizoen met de Ferrari-auto.

Het circuit van Mexico City moet echter nog wel goedkeuring te krijgen van de internationale autosportbond FIA. Om de licentie te verkrijgen dienen nog enkele bochten aangepast te worden.
