A1GP presenteert kalender 2009/2010

In navolging van de Formule 1 heeft ook de organisatie van de A1 Grand Prix de kalender van het komende seizoen gepresenteerd. De kalender kent negen evenementen en start 25 oktober in Australië. De laatste race is 16 mei in Nederland op het TT circuit in Assen.

Eerder deze week kwamen de berichten binnen dat de raceklasse in zwaar weer zit. Zo zou de organisatie een betalingsachterstand hebben bij Ferrari, dat de autos levert.

Behalve de publicatie van de kalender bevestigt A1GP president Tony Teixeira een deal van drie jaar met IMG Sports Media. IMG zal de A1GP gaan helpen met marketing en de media rechten.

Teixeira zegt er het volgende over: Ik heb een lijstje met wensen van deals waarvan ik denk dat deze klasse die nodig heeft om uit te groeien tot één van de grootste sport klassen van de wereld. Een deal als deze staat daarbij hoog op mijn lijstje. IMG Sports Media is precies wat wij nodig hebben. Ze hebben grootse plannen met de A1GP.

Adam Kelly, marketing directeur van IMG Sports Media is net als Teixeira erg tevreden met de overeenkomst. We zijn opgetogen om A1GP aan ons portfolio te kunnen toevoegen. Wij hopen de A1GP Ferraris dichter bij de fans te brengen. Met onze connecties willen we de A1GP globaler maken en we willen een breder publiek trekken dan ooit tevoren, aldus Kelly.

Teixeira legt ten slotte uit waarom de organisatie zo laat met de bekendmaking van de kalender komt. Als je heel vroeg de kalender presenteert dan kan je heel makkelijk aanpassingen maken. We wilde dat voorkomen en ervoor zorgen dat de teams en fans alleen betrouwbare informatie krijgen. Wellicht komt er nog één evenement bij op deze kalender. We zullen nog bekijken wat de mogelijkheden daarvoor zijn.

Zou ik nu toch een kaartje voor assen gaan kopen ?? voor de zekerheid wacht ik nog maar even tot de eerste race verreden is, t is toch best een leuke toegangkelijke klasse om te gaan kijken.
