Alex Yoong klaar voor thuisrace

De Maleisische coureur Alex Yoong, die uitkomt voor zijn land in de A1 Grand Prix, zegt klaar te zijn voor zijn thuisrace die het komende weekend plaatsvindt op het circuit van Sepang. Yoong zei de drang te voelen om te winnen voor zijn thuispubliek, maar gaf ook aan dat dit niet gemakkelijk zou gaan worden.

De race is erg moeilijk en met goede rijders als die van Frankrijk, die over het algemeen goed rijdt, zal het niet gemakkelijk worden, aldus de Maleisiër. Hopelijk zullen wij ook sterk zijn. Ik kijk er naar uit om voor mijn thuispubliek te rijden en hoop dat ze ons zullen aanmoedigen en aansporen om te winnen. Yoong is er van overtuigd dat hij een goed resultaat zal behalen komend weekend: We voelen ons erg competitief.

Yoong verwacht een enthousiast publiek dat hem en zijn teamgenoot Fairuz Fauzy zal aanmoedigen. Afgelopen keer was een hoogtepunt voor mij en de rest van het team. De hoofdtribune stond vol met ongeveer 20.000 mensen, maar het voelde als meer dan 100.000 en dat was erg speciaal.
