Jani aan de kant door voedselvergiftiging

Neel Jani zal dit weekend niet meedoen aan de A1 Grand Prix-race in Mexico op het circuit van Mexico City. De Zwitser is geveld door voedselvergiftiging. Marcel Fassler neemt de plaats van de 23-jarige coureur bij Team Zwitserland in. Jani: Ik had er nog zo naar uit gekeken. Ik had graag het team geholpen door zoveel mogelijk punten te halen. Bovendien was het handig voor mijn carrière om op dit circuit te rijden, want met de Champ Car rij ik hier later dit jaar ook.

Waar bij Jani de teleurstelling overheerst over het niet meedoen, kan Fassler zich opmaken voor zijn eerste race in de A1 Grand Prix. Dit is een geweldige kans voor me om te laten zien wat ik kan. Ik ga voor punten op dit voor mij onbekend circuit. Het vertrouwen van teambaas Max Welti heeft hij in ieder geval. Ik weet zeker dat als de auto goed is Marcel het gewoon goed gaat doen. We staan slechts één punt verwijderd van de vierde plek in het kampioenschap en we zijn vastbesloten om die goed te maken.
