Zandvoort opnieuw gastheer seizoensopening

Het huidige A1 Grand Prix-seizoen moet nog aflopen, maar de plek waar het volgende seizoen begint is al bekend. Zandvoort is op 30 september de gastheer van de eerste race van het derde seizoen van de raceklasse. Op 1 oktober vorig jaar was Zandvoort ook al de plek waar het A1GP-jaar begon, toen met een overweldigende belangstelling en volgepakte duinen.

Teambaas van Team Nederland, Jan Lammers: Het succes van de editie van vorig jaar zal moeilijk te evenaren zijn, laat staan er overheen te gaan. Ik hoop dat we ongeveer net zo veel mensen naar dit mooie evenement zullen lokken, zodat we een A1GP waardige opening van een nieuw seizoen kunnen houden.

Ook directeur van de A1GP in Europa, Bruce Holmes, was onder de indruk van de massale komst van oranje autosportfans. De race op Zandvoort was de perfecte start van het seizoen voor ons. Volgepakte tribunes, duinen helemaal oranje, allemaal fans die achter hun land gingen staan. Dat belichaamde alles waar wij voor willen staan en dus zijn we uitermate tevreden dat we over een paar maanden het nieuwe seizoen weer op Zandvoort mogen beginnen.

Komen weekend is de afsluiting van het huidige seizoen op het circuit van Brands Hatch. Team Nederland staat zesde in het kampioenschap en kan nog maximaal vierde worden.
