Team Nederland wint wel veel troostprijzen

Geen A1 Grand Prix-titel, slecht één overwinning in een sprintrace en een vijfde plek in de eindstand om het kampioenschap. Team Nederland had misschien meer van het tweede A1GP-seizoen gehoopt, maar op het gala na het seizoen heeft de Nederlandse equipe wel veel publieksprijzen in de wacht gesleept. Coureur Jeroen Bleekemolen won de award voor mooiste inhaalmanoeuvre, Zandvoort kreeg de prijs voor beste A1GP-evenement op de kalender en Team Nederland werd verkozen tot leukste team.

Teambaas Jan Lammers blikt terug op het tweede jaar A1GP: Dit is een solide jaar voor ons geweest. Ik denk dat de uitslag goed weergeeft hoe de verhoudingen dit jaar zijn geweest. Duitsland, Nieuw-Zeeland, Groot-Brittannië en Frankrijk waren dit seizoen nog beter dan ons en eindigen dus terecht boven ons in het kampioenschap.

Coureur Jeroen Bleekemolen over zijn eerste jaar in deze raceklasse: Met de vijfde plaats in het kampioenschap mogen we best blij zijn, dat is ook een beetje waar we qua snelheid hoorden dit seizoen. Toch ben ik niet helemaal tevreden, je doet toch mee om te winnen. Ik kwam alleen op het laatste moment in de auto en dan weet je totaal niet hoe je het gaat doen. De laatste helft van het seizoen hebben we er vaak zo goed bijgezeten, we hadden zeker een paar keer op het podium moeten staan en meer races kunnen winnen. Vijfde is absoluut niet slecht, maar je hoopt natuurlijk altijd op beter.

Ook Ho-Pin Tung mag terugkijken op een aantal mooie resultaten in de A1GP-auto van Team China. Mede door zijn goede resultaten kreeg China de prijs van het team dat de meeste vooruitgang heeft geboekt.
