Kwalificatie 3: Zaugg ook snel onderweg voor feature-race

Adrian Zaugg heeft een grote stap gezet op weg naar de pole position in de feature race, na deze ook al te hebben veroverd voor de sprintrace. De coureur uit Zuid Afrika was de teams uit Groot-Brittanië en Duitsland voor, Nederland werd tiende.

Kwalificatiedeel drie gaat van start en wordt geopend door Team Indonesië, al snel volgen Team Pakistan en Nederlands trots, Jeroen Bleekemolen. Zuid Afrika zet als eerste een representatieve tijd neer, met een 1:45.200 maakt Zaugg ook kans op de pole position in de feature race. Frankrijk kan daar voorlopig niet aan tippen en schiet naar een tweede tijd, gevolgd door Nieuw-Zeeland. Nederland zet dan de voorlopig zesde tijd neer in een matige ronde. India en Zwitserland schieten daaronder en Nederland zakt verder af.

Ondertussen wacht Duitsland weer erg lang af in de pitstaat, met nog zes minuten te gaan heeft Vietoris nog geen ronde gerreden in kwalificatiedeel drie. Groot-Brittanië heeft zich inmiddels toegevoegd aan de snellere teams, Oliver Jarvis staat voorlopig tweede als er nog drie minuten te kwalificeren is. Mexico schiet naar de vijfde tijd in een ronde vol met fouten, er ligt dus meer voor het Midden-Amerikaanse land in het verschiet.

Met nog een minuut te gaan staat Nederland achtste, achter onder andere India en Nieuw-Zeeland. Doordat Ierland en Duitsland goed gaan valt Nederland terug naar de tiende plaats.
