RuSPORT trekt zich terug aan het einde van het seizoen

Het team van RuSPORT zal aan het einde van het huidige Champ Car-seizoen ophouden met bestaan. Dat heeft coureur Justin Wilson bekend gemaakt, waardoor de winnaar van de race op Assen nu zonder stoeltje zit voor 2008. De Engelsman stond nog onder contract bij RuSPORT en daarom hebben de andere teams niet bij hem aangeklopt.

Wilson blijft optimistisch over een langer verblijf in de Champ Car. Ze hebben me net verteld dat ze niet door zullen gaan. Ze willen het gewoon niet, dat is wat ze mij en de teamleden meegedeeld hebben. Dit weekend ga ik kijken wat mijn opties zijn. Maar het feit dat een team ophoudt te bestaan is niet nieuw in de autosport.

Ik moet gewoon mezelf bij elkaar rapen en mezelf in een zo goed mogelijke positie voor 2008 manoeuvreren. In het begin van het jaar kreeg ik veel belletjes met de vraag of ik beschikbaar was, maar op dat moment was ik dat niet. Misschien nu dit nieuws is uitgelekt zullen ze de telefoon weer pakken, ik ben in ieder geval bereikbaar en beschikbaar.
