Bourdais voorspelt glansrol voor Power in 2008

Sebastien Bourdais denkt dat zijn rol als de ster van de Champ Car-serie in 2008 overgenomen zal worden door Will Power. De coureur van Team Australia eindigde dit jaar als vierde in de eindstand van het kampioenschap. Bourdais, die zelf de overstap maakt naar de Formule 1, voorspelt een glansrol voor de Australiër voor het volgende seizoen.

Het enige dat ik over mijn opvolging kan zeggen is dat Will Power momenteel zeer sterk oogt. Hij haalt geweldige brandstofverbruikcijfers en koppelt dat ook nog aan snelle rondetijden. Ik zal er niet meer zijn, ik denk dat hij de nieuwe man zal zijn waarmee iedereen rekening moet houden, aldus de Fransman.

Maar Bourdias ziet ook andere kanshebbers op zijn troon. Er zijn zeker nog een paar kandidaten. Justin Wilson presteert al jaren goed, en Robert Doornbos heeft zich in zijn eerste seizoen meteen laten gelden. Dan heb je nog Graham Rahal en een heleboel anderen. Het is moeilijk te voorspellen. Ik hoop gewoon dat de Champ Car de stijgende lijn van de laatste paar jaar vast houdt en dat de serie zich nog meer op de kaart zet in de komende jaren.
