Doornbos doet op 26 januari mee aan 24 uur van Daytona

Champ Car-coureur Robert Doornbos gaat de 24 uur van Daytona gebruiken als voorbereiding op het komende seizoen. De Nederlander bemant samen met onder andere Patrick Huisman een Porsche GT3. Het evenement op de oval van Daytona wordt de eerste endurance race van Doornbos en betekent eveneens zijn debuut op een oval.

Een nieuwe maar enorm leuke uitdaging. Afgelopen weekend heb ik al getest samen met mijn teamgenoten Patrick Huisman, Steve Johnson en Richard Lietz. Het rijden met een dak boven mijn hoofd is iets compleets nieuw voor me, maar wel iets wat me prima vermaakt heeft. Er rijden hier veel jongens rond die ik uit de Formule 3, Formule 1 of Champ Car World Series ken, zoals Ryan Briscoe, Jacques Villeneuve en Justin Wilson. Ik kan mijn borst dus natmaken eind deze maand, aldus Doornbos.
