Forsythe Championship Racing eerste slachtoffer van fusie

Het team van Forsythe is het eerste slachtoffer van de fusie tussen Champ Car en de IRL (Indy Racing League, red.). Het terugtrekken van de renstal is vooral voor Paul Tracy, Champ Car-kampioen van 2003, een tegenvaller, aangezien de Canadees een meerjarig contract met het team had.

Neil Micklewright van Forsythe vertelt: Forsythe Championship Racing maakt bekend te stoppen met alle raceactiviteiten. Na dertien jaar in C ART en Champ Car is het team niet in staat gebleken om genoeg sponsorgeld bij elkaar te krijgen om in 2008 aan de Indy Racing League IndyCar Series deel te nemen. Forsythe Racing Inc. doet wel mee aan de Toyota Grand Prix van Long Beach, de Champ Car-finale, en de coureurs daarvoor maken we nog bekend.

Tracy is vastberaden ergens anders een stoeltje te vinden. Ik ben geschokt en teleurgesteld door dit nieuws. Ik geloof dat ik een van de beste oval-coureurs in dit land ben en ik moet me snel herpakken om bij een ander team in de Indy Car aan de slag te gaan. Mijn oude team mag dan gesneuveld zijn, ik ben klaar en gemotiveerd om te racen.
