Stoddart houdt Webber in de gaten

Paul Stoddart hoopt in de toekomst weer met Mark Webber samen te werken. De Australische teambaas van Champ Car-team Minardi Team USA wil zijn landgenoot graag overhalen voor een stap naar Amerika, maar denkt dat het daar nu nog te vroeg voor is. Stoddart: Ik heb er alles voor over om Mark voor me te laten rijden, maar hij is nog niet klaar in de Formule 1.

De twee werkten al eens samen bij het Formule 1-team van Minardi in 2002. Toen zorgde Webber bij zijn debuut in Melbourne gelijk voor twee punten en feest bij Stoddart. De teambaas is dan ook vol lof over de huidige coureur van Red Bull Racing.

Stoddart: Hij gaat nog veel bereiken in de Formule 1. Hij heeft nog niet de juiste auto gehad om te laten zien hoe snel hij eigenlijk is. Ik weet ook niet of Red Bull Racing de competitie met de grote jongens aankan. Voor hem is het belangrijk dat hij zijn teamgenoot David Coulthard verslaat. Dat lijkt me een leuke confrontatie tussen die twee.
