PKV bevestigt komst Gommendy

Het rijdersduo van PKV Racing voor 2007 zal bestaan uit Neel Jani en Tristan Gommendy. De Fransman mag vandaag gelijk al instappen bij het team voor de test op Laguna Seca. Gommendy: Ik kijk er erg naar uit om te beginnen. Alles is nieuw voor me, maar dat is niet de eerste keer dat me dat gebeurd. Ik hoop dat het goed gaat.

De komst van Gommendy maakt een einde aan de hoop van Oriol Servia om voor PKV te racen. De Spanjaard reed aan het einde van vorig seizoen al een paar races voor het team en hj testte dit jaar al voor PKV op het circuit van Sebring.

Mede-eigenaar van het team Jimmy Vasser legt uit: Er waren meerder kandidaten voor dit stoeltje, waaronder Oriol. Maar het is ons niet gelukt om tot overeenstemming te komen. We wilden geen overhaaste beslissing nemen, omdat we graag een goede teamgenoot voor Neel Jani wilden contracteren. Met Tristan is dat ons gelukt.

Gommendy reed vorig jaar nog vier races in de World Series by Renault en pakte daarin zestien punten. De 28-jarige Fransman won voor het laatst een kampioenschap in 2002, toen hij Frans Formule 3-kampioen werd.
