Portland dag 2: Regen verstoort testdag

De tweede testdag op het circuit van Portland is volledig verstoord door de slechte weersomstandigheden. Slechts één coureur waagde zich op de baan in de regen. PKV-coureur Tristan Gommendy was de enige die de omstandigheden trotseerde en dertig rondjes reed. De rest van de aanwezige Champ Car-coureurs lieten zich niet op de baan zien.

Gommendy: Ook al regende het de hele dag, het was toch goed om even te rijden en een gevoel van de auto in natte omstandigheden te krijgen. Want stel dat het regent in een race, dan hebben wij nu bruikbare informatie. De auto was constant en dat was goed, daardoor konden we stap voor stap de afstelling verbeteren. Aan het einde van de dag voelde de auto erg goed aan in de regen en dat is de winst van vandaag.

Het is voor de andere coureurs te hopen dat de laatste testdag onder betere omstandigheden verreden kan worden. De test op het circuit van Portland is namelijk de laatste voorbereiding op de race die op datzelfde circuit op 10 juni verreden wordt.
