Robert Doornbos op promotietour door Europa

Enkele Champ Car-coureurs, waaronder Robert Doornbos, maken vanaf vandaag een vierdaagse promotietour door Europa. Samen met enkele hoge bazen van de Amerikaanse raceklasse moeten de rijders de Europeanen warm maken voor de Europese races op het Belgische circuit van Zolder en op het Nederlandse circuit van Assen later dit jaar. Vandaag is de groep in Londen, morgen in Amsterdam, donderdag in Brussel en de afsluiting is vrijdag in Parijs.

Niet geheel toevallig allemaal plaatsen in landen die enige betrokkenheid met de Champ Car hebben. Naast de Nederlander Robert Doornbos vertegenwoordigen namelijk ook de Britten Justin Wilson en Dan Clarke, en de Fransen Sebastien Bourdais en Simon Pagenaud de coureurs bij deze promotietour. Ook Minardi Team USA-teambaas Paul Stoddart zal acte de présence geven.

Champ Car-directeur Steve Johnson: Champ Car is een internationale raceserie en we werken hard om meer naamsbekendheid te genereren. Door nu naar Europa te gaan kunnen de media de klasse alvast leren kennen en met de lokale coureurs praten, die een sterrenstatus in Amerika hebben. Europa heeft ons door de jaren heen veel goede coureurs geleverd en we zijn dan ook ontzettend blij dat we dit jaar weer op Europese bodem zullen racen.
