Heylen vervangt Halliday voor rest van seizoen

De Belg Jan Heylen neemt de plaats van Matt Halliday bij het team van Conquest in. Bij de volgende race in Portland zal Heylen zijn terugkeer in de Champ Car maken. Vorig seizoen reed de 27-jarige coureur al veertien races bij Dale Coyne Racing en scoorde daarin 140 punten. Voor dit seizoen kon hij geen stoeltje bemachtigen, maar na drie races schuift het team van Eric Bachelart Halliday aan de kant en mag Bachelarts landgenoot Heylen instappen.

Bachelart: We zijn heel blij om iemand als Jan in ons team binnen te halen. We kennen hem al veel langer en heeft enorm veel potentieel, ik kan dan ook niet wachten om hem te zien racen voor Conquest. Zeker de race in België op het circuit van Zolder wordt heel speciaal. Ik ben er al veel vaker geweest, maar dit is toch wel uniek.

Heylen reageerde uiteraard dolgelukkig op zijn aanstaande rentree in de Champ Car. Of ik blij ben? Reken maar, dit is een geweldige kans. Het is acht maanden geleden dat ik in de Champ Car reed en ik heb het gemist. De grootste uitdaging is om in de nieuwe auto te stappen, ik heb er nog geen meter in gereden. Het zal dan ook niet meteen perfect gaan, maar we maken er het beste van. Ik ben al gelukkig dat ik weer terug ben.
