Bourdais bekritiseert agressieve rijstijl Doornbos

Sebastien Bourdais heeft harde kritiek geuit op zijn tegenstrever in het Champ Car-kampioenschap, Robert Doornbos. De Nederlandse coureur van Minardi Team USA boekte op Mont Tremblant zijn eerste zege in de Amerikaanse raceserie en Bourdias werd tweede, maar de Fransman is niet helemaal gelukkig met de manier waarop.

Als we in zesde of zevende versnelling rijden en iemand probeert je het gras in te duwen, dan is het niet veilig meer, vertelt de regerend kampioen. De Fransman toonde zich een slechte verliezer door Doornbos te betichten van blokken, wat verboden is in de Champ Car. Robert was in de Formule 1 natuurlijk andere regels gewend.

Hier mag je niet zo agressief rijden en je positie verdedigen. Hij week zeker drie keer van zijn lijn om mij te blokken, aldus Bourdais. De Fransman gaf wel toe dat Doornbos terecht de race had gewonnen. Hij had de snellere auto en hij was zelf ook erg goed bezig. Het is alleen jammer dat een goede coureur als hij dit soort trucjes nodig heeft.

Doornbos reageerde onverschillig op de kritiek van de drievoudig kampioen. Ik was de verdiende winnaar van de race. Ik weet dat de regels hier anders zijn, maar het blijft natuurlijk wel een gevecht voor de zege. Ik respecteer de regels van de Champ Car volledig. Als Sebastien het gevoel had dat hij mij kon passeren had hij het gewoon moeten doen, aldus de Nederlander.
