Robert Doornbos gelooft in eigen titelkansen

Robert Doornbos heeft er alle vertrouwen in dat hij zijn huidige goede vorm door kan zetten tot het einde van het Champ Car-seizoen. De Nederlander is bezig aan zijn eerste jaar in de Amerikaanse tegenhanger van de Formule 1 en reed al in vijf van de zes races naar het podium. Met als hoogtepunt zijn eerste zege op het circuit van Mont Tremblant van afgelopen weekend.

Minardi Team USA-coureur Doornbos gaat nu samen met Sebastien Bourdais aan de leiding in het kampioenschap. De Nederlander gaat de strijd met de drievoudig Champ Car-kampioen graag aan. Ik denk dat het vanaf nu elke race een gevecht om de meeste punten gaat worden en we moeten op ons best blijven om mee te blijven doen voor de zeges.

Ik denk dat we dit wel kunnen volhouden. Ik voel me erg goed, comfortabel binnen het team en ik heb het gevoel dat ik de jongens goed kan motiveren. Naarmate het seizoen vordert worden wij alleen maar sterker. Dat zullen we komend weekend in Toronto weer laten zien. Het zelfvertrouwen is groter dan ooit en ik hoop dat we een passend vervolg kunnen geven aan de zege op Mont Tremblant, aldus Doornbos.
