Rechter oordeelt in voordeel race Assen

De Champ Car-race op het circuit van Assen, gepland voor 2 september, mag gewoon doorgaan. Dat is het oordeel van de voorzieningenrechter naar aanleiding van een kort geding van omwonenden van het Drentse circuit. Die zijn bang dat de race voor te veel overlast zal zorgen en buiten de milieuvergunning valt.

Het grootste probleem voor autosport in Nederland vormen de toegestane geluidsdagen voor extra lawaai. Het TT-circuit van Assen heeft met het WK Superbike en de TT-races al twee evenementen die buiten de normale norm vallen. De circuitleiding had voor de Champ Car-race echter een vergunning aangevraagd en gekregen.

Omwonenden, een vakantiepark en milieuorganisaties bundelden daarna hun krachten om te voorkomen dat de Amerikaanse tegenhanger van de Formule 1 over een paar weken Nederland aan zou doen. De rechter verwierp echter hun argumenten en oordeelde dat Robert Doornbos(foto) op 2 september gewoon voor eigen publiek in actie kan komen.

Het is niet de eerste keer dat een Nederlands circuit in de moeilijkheden komt door gezeur over geluidsdagen. Eerder dit jaar moest Circuit Park Zandvoort geluidsdagen inleveren, waardoor de Masters of Formula 3 naar Zolder verhuisde.
