Bourdais gaat rekenen in jacht op vierde titel

Het is razend spannend in het Champ Car-kampioenschap en de twee voornaamste titelkandidaten zijn Sebastien Bourdais en Robert Doornbos. De eerste is al drievoudig kampioen en aast op een overstap naar de Formule 1, de tweede is een debutant en wil zich onsterfelijk maken in Amerika. Met nog zes races te gaan is het verschil tien punten. Bourdais vindt het tijd geworden om meer voor het kampioenschap dan voor raceoverwinningen te gaan.

De Fransman won al vier keer tegenover twee zeges voor Doornbos. De Nederlander is echter constanter en finishte tot nu toe elke race. Bourdais: Het is nu belangrijk dat we elke race van voren mee blijven doen en continu goede resultaten gaan behalen. Het liefst steeds in de top vijf. Daar gaan we ons vanaf nu op concentreren en hopelijk zijn wij aan het einde van de rit degene die bovenaan staan.

Eerst komende zondag de race op Road America. Een circuit waar Bourdais nog niet eerder won. Dat is soms frustrerend, maar ik verander mijn aanpak niet opeens voor deze race. We doen hetzelfde als voor andere races en hopen dat het genoeg is voor de zege. Bovendien, ik ben hier altijd op het podium geëindigd, dus zo slecht doe ik het hier ook weer niet.
