Justin Wilson in beeld als opvolger Bourdais

Het team van Newman/Haas/Lanigan ziet in Justin Wilson de ideale opvolger voor de aan het einde van het seizoen vertrekkende Sebastien Bourdais. De drievoudig Champ Car-kampioen maakt in 2008 de stap naar de Formule 1 en gaat racen voor Scuderia Toro Rosso. Justin Wilson rijdt nu nog voor RSPORTS en zou volgend seizoen de teamgenoot van Graham Rahal moeten worden.

Wilson heeft net als Bourdais een Formule 3000-titel op zak. De Engelsman reed ook in de Formule 1 voor Minardi en Jaguar. Vorig jaar werd Wilson tweede achter Bourdais in de Champ Car. Dit jaar wil het nog niet echt vlotten met de lange coureur. Wilson staat nog zonder zeges en hij kan zich vooralsnog niet mengen in het titelgevecht tussen Bourdais, Robert Doornbos en Will Power.
