Power pakt voorlopige pole, Doornbos zonder tijd

Will Power staat voorlopig op pole position voor de Champ Car-race op het circuit van Zolder. De Australiër bleef kampioenschapleider Sebastien Bourdais met twee tienden van een seconde voor. De 1:13.810 van Power was bovendien ruim een seconde sneller dan de snelste tijden van de vrije trainingen.

Robert Doornbos was in de laatste vrije training nog de snelste, maar vlak voor het einde van die sessie plofte de motor van zijn Minardi Team USA-bolide. De tijd tot de kwalificatiesessie was te kort om zijn krachtbron te vervangen en daarom staat de Nederlander nog zonder tijd. Doornbos krijgt morgen in de tweede kwalificatie de kans om dat recht te zetten.
