Laguna Seca keert volgend jaar terug op kalender

Het legendarische circuit van Laguna Seca staat in 2008 weer op de Champ Car-kalender. De baan met de befaamde 'Corkscrew'-bocht neemt de plek in van het stratencircuit van San Jose waarop Robert Doornbos dit jaar won. In 2004 stond Laguna Seca voor het laatst op het programma.

San Jose wordt van de kalender gehaald omdat er bouwwerkzaamheden in de stad plaats gaan vinden. De organisatie van de race had dat kenbaar gemaakt bij de organisatie van de Champ Car-serie, die daarna op zoek ging naar een plaatsvervangend circuit.

En uitkwam bij Laguna Seca, waar men de terugkeer van de Champ Car toejuicht. Gill Campbell, circuitdirecteur van Laguna Seca: We zijn verheugd dat wij tijdens ons vijftigste jaar weer een Champ Car-race mogen organiseren. De fans vonden de tests voorafgaande van dit seizoen al geweldig en zullen een race nog hartelijker ontvangen. Binnenkort gaan we onze volledige kalender voor 2008 bekend maken, maar dit geweldige nieuws wilden we nu al met de fans delen.
