Martinez vervangt Servia bij Forsythe

De Mexicaan David Martinez neemt voor de laatste twee races van het seizoen bij het team van Forsythe de plek in van Oriol Servia. Martinez debuteerde vorig jaar al in de Champ Car voor hetzelfde team bij de seizoensfinale in Mexico en maakte daar een goede indruk. Voor de races op Surfers Paradise en Mexico City vormt hij weer een duo met Paul Tracy.

Martinez: Ik ben dolgelukkig dat ik weer aan de slag kan met het team van Forsythe. Vorig jaar gaven ze mij mijn eerste kans in de Champ Car en dat ging vrij goed. Ik kijk er naar uit om de nieuwe auto te gebruiken, het lijkt me een geweldige raceauto. Het circuit in Australië is nieuw voor me, maar ik mag weer in Mexico racen en dat wordt sowieso een geweldig weekend.

De redenen voor het opzij schuiven van Servia blijven echter onduidelijk. De Spanjaard was bezig aan een zeer acceptabel seizoen en stond vaker voor teamgenoot Tracy dan omgekeerd. Teameigenaar Jerry Forsythe: We wensen Oriol het beste voor de toekomst, als we hem konden behouden hadden we dat gedaan. Hij is zeer waardevol geweest voor het Forsythe-team en heeft geweldig werk geleverd voor ons.
