Di Resta pakt dominante overwinning

Oud Force India-coureur Paul di Resta heeft een dominante overwinning behaald in de tweede race van het DTM-weekend op de Hockenheimring. De Schot startte van pole. Timo Glock en Augusto Farfus finishten namens BMW op de plekken twee en drie.

Bij de start komt Di Resta heel erg goed weg en slaat meteen een gaatje. Farfus kent een minder goede start en verliest zijn tweede plek aan Gary Paffet. Achter de kop van het veld is het chaos in de eerste ronde. Bruno Spengler, Jamie Green en Ocon raken elkaar en vliegen in de grindbak. Aanstichter is Felx da Costa. De winnaar van race een, Mortara, is ook bij het incident betrokken. Door de chaos volgt een Safety Car-fase. Ocon, Green en Spengler vallen uit.

Na vier ronde wordt de race weer vrijgegeven. Di Resta is wederom goed weg en slaat meteen een gat. In ronde 14 maakt de leider zijn stop. Dat gaat zeker niet van een leien dakje, er zijn problemen bij het wisselen van het linkervoorwiel. Na de stops ligt Di Resta echter nog steeds aan de leiding. Gary Paffet krijgt vanwege een incident in de pits een doorrijstraf.

In het vervolg van de race is er weinig spanning meer. Di Resta ligt meer dan tien seconden voor op Farfus en rijdt soeverein naar de overwinning. Gary Paffet knokt zich ondanks zijn doorrijstraf naar een knappe vierde plek.

Het volgende raceweekend van de DTM vindt plaats op de Red Bull Ring in het weekend van 20 mei.

  Zag je reactie, en vroeg me af wanneer ik voor het laatst naar DTM races heb gekeken..... Toen reden er nog Alfa's in de voorhoede mee . ;-)

  Ja dat waren mooie jaren trappenmetdathok. Maar het veld zit nu ook dicht bij elkaar en de races zijn zeer amusant.

  Redelijk sterk in de kwalificatie.In de tweede race werd hij aangetikt en viel daarna uit.
