Geen plaats meer voor Oliver Jarvis in line-up van Audi

Audi heeft haar line-up voor het komende DTM-seizoen bekend gemaakt. De Duitse fabrikant zal in 2012 met zeven auto's aan de start staan als het seizoen in Hockenheim van start gaat. Daarin is geen plaats meer voor Oliver Jarvis.

Jarvis, een voormalig winnaar van de Autosport BRDC Awards, reed de afgelopen vier jaar voor Audi in de DTM. Voor 2012 zal hij echter een andere werkgever moeten zoeken. Rahel Frey neemt namelijk zijn plaats in bij Abt Sportsline, die van vijf naar drie auto's gaan komend seizoen. Daarmee wordt Frey de teamgenote van Timo Scheider en Mattias Ekstrom.

Phoenix heeft een compleet gewijzigde line-up ten opzichte van vorig jaar. Dit team heeft afscheid moeten nemen van regerend kampioen Martin Tomczyk die naar BMW is vertrokken en Frey is verhuist naar Abt. Mike Rockenfeller en Miguel Molina racen komend seizoen voor Phoenix in de DTM. Alleen Team Rosberg komt met dezelfde coureurs naar Hockenheim als vorig jaar. Zowel Edoardo Mortara als Filipe Albuquerque hebben hun contract verlengd.

Audi's motorsportbaas Wolfgang Ullrich vertelde: "Mattias en Timo weten hoe ze races moeten winnen en beiden hebben ze meer dan 100 races gereden. Mike won in 2011 zijn eerste DTM-race, terwijl Filipe, Edoardo en Miguel allemaal op het podium stonden vorig jaar. Verder denk ik dat Rahel wel voor enkele verrassingen kan zorgen in haar tweede seizoen. Tijdens de wintertests heeft ze laten zien over veel potentieel te beschikken."
