BMW promoveert Marco Wittmann tot racecoureur

Marco Wittmann zal volgend jaar gaan racen in de DTM, zo is duidelijk geworden. BMW Motorsport heeft de promotie van hun huidige DTM-testrijder bevestigd. Tevens werd bekend gemaakt dat alle huidige coureurs, kampioen Bruno Spengler, Dirk Werner, Martin Tomzcyk, Andy Priaulx, Augusto Farfus en Joey Hand ook aan zullen blijven als coureurs.

Over de promotie van Wittmann naar racecoureur vertelde BMW's motorsportdirecteur Jens Marquardt: "Marco heeft zich het hele seizoen in 2012 intensief voorbereid op deze kans. Hij heeft steeds deel uitgemaakt van het hele team en was bij elke meeting aanwezig. Daarnaast bewees hij met de test in een BMW M3 DTM dat hij klaar is om deze mogelijkheid volledig te benutten."

Omdat BMW haar DTM-programma met twee bolides uitbreidt voor volgend jaar, is er nog één leeg stoeltje over.
