Lauda verwacht Ross Brawn spoedig terug in Formule 1

Ross Brawn neemt even de tijd om tot bezinning te komen, maar zijn carrière in de Formule 1 is nog niet ten einde. Dat denkt Mercedes-teampresident Niki Lauda. Brawn is al gelinkt aan Ferrari, Williams, McLaren en Honda, maar hij hapte nog nergens officieel toe.

Lauda vertelt in de Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung: "Hij heeft mij en de rest van het personeel meegedeeld dat hij toe was aan wat anders. Meer tijd met zijn familie doorbrengen, meer gaan vissen. Ross verzekerde me dat hij eerst wil ontspannen, maar het zou me niet verbazen als de belangstelling de komende tijd aanzwelt. Hij heeft acht wereldtitels op zijn naam, alleen Adrian Newey heeft er meer. Als Ross ooit terugkeert, respecteer ik zijn beslissing."

"Hij heeft uitstekend werk geleverd, dat wil ik graag benadrukken. Toto Wolff en Paddy Lowe nemen zijn taken nu over, dat is nooit makkelijk. Leiderschap gaat altijd gepaard met druk en ik zal de boel scherp in de gaten houden zodat er geen vacuüm ontstaat. Maar ik heb het volste vertrouwen in de capaciteiten van Toto en Paddy."
