Williams erg gelukkig met timing van regelwijzigingen

Het team van Williams ruikt zijn kans om dit jaar een grote sprong vooruit te maken. Onder technisch leiderschap van Pat Symonds en met de overstap naar motoren van Mercedes zijn de ingrediënten voor progressie aanwezig. Bovendien bieden de ingrijpende regelwijzigingen de Britse renstal een kans om af te rekenen met het slechte jaar 2013.

Vice-teambaas Claire Williams: "De nieuwe reglementen komen ons erg goed uit, want zonder was het stukken moeilijker geweest om flinke vooruitgang te boeken. Ik denk niet dat de pikorde drastisch zal veranderen, maar het geeft de teams die meer dan een seconde achterstand hadden wel de gelegenheid om goed te kijken naar wat ze anders kunnen doen. Dat proberen wij ook te doen. Afgelopen jaar stond volledig in het teken van het meeste uit onze middelen halen en de regels voor dit seizoen omarmen."

Williams sprak ook lovende woorden over nieuwe aanwinst Felipe Massa. "Een van de dingen waar we enorm enthousiast over zijn is zijn gedrevenheid om te helpen bij de wederopbouw van dit team. Dat is precies wat we wilden. We verwachten van hem niet alleen dat hij op de circuits presteert, maar ook dat hij regelmatig bezoekjes brengt aan de fabriek om de engineers te stimuleren en te helpen. En zo is Felipe ook. Hij wil zijn armen uit de mouwen steken en een integraal deel van het team uitmaken."

als je toch van motoren moet wisselen is dit nu wel het moment omdat te doen. Alles is nieuw voor alle teams. Ik denk wel dat Williams goed bezig is. Durft nu duidelijk te investeren in talent en niet alleen in poen (lees Pastor).

  Massa brengt geld mee, en pdvsa brengt dit jaar ook nog geld in het laatje.
