Flavio Briatore belooft beterschap voor Renault

Het team van Renault is nog volop in ontwikkeling. Er wordt nog keihard gewerkt aan de nieuwe R28 en pas na de Grand Prix van Turkije zal de eerste ontwikkelingsfase afgerond zijn. Teambaas Flavio Briatore wil dan ook dat zijn team pas vanaf die race afgerekend gaat worden op de resultaten.

Maar zelfs dan zijn Ferrari, McLaren en waarschijnlijk ook BMW Sauber te hoog gegrepen. Briatore: Op dit moment weet ik niet waar we precies staan. Wat we wel zeker weten is dat Ferrari en McLaren voor ons te sterk zijn. Pas na de Grand Prix van Turkije op 11 mei weten we waar we aan toe zijn en welke plek we op de grid innemen. De teambaas meldt dat Renault bij de Grand Prix van Spanje een grote sprong voorwaarts gaat maken.

Ondertussen gaat coureur Fernando Alonso onverstoord verder met openlijke sollicitaties richting Ferrari. Briatore, die afgelopen winter veel moeite heeft gedaan om de Spanjaard terug te halen naar Renault, wil er geen woorden aan vuil maken. Ik reageer nooit op speculaties.
