Renault hoopt op meer punten van Piquet jr

Nelson Piquet jr scoorde in de Grand Prix van Frankrijk voor het eerst punten en als het aan zijn team Renault ligt geeft hij daar komend weekend op Silverstone een passend vervolg aan. De Braziliaan had het in de eerste zeven races moeilijk, de Franse renstal hoopt dat hij door zijn zevende plek op Magny-Cours alle schroom van zich af gooit.

Bob Bell, technisch directeur van Renault: Nelson leverde geweldig werk en liet het hele weekend verbetering zien. Op vrijdag was hij nog ruim langzamer dan Fernando Alonso en in de race scoorde hij uiteindelijk meer punten. Het was een hele positieve Grand Prix voor Nelson en dat is mooi voor zijn zelfvertrouwen.

Hopelijk dient dit als een springplank voor de rest van het seizoen en houdt Nelson die stijgende lijn vast. We krijgen nu een paar Europese races op circuits waar hij mee bekend is en hij krijgt de kans om zijn ware snelheid te tonen.
