Webber schrijft geschiedenis voor Red Bull Racing

Red Bull Racing-coureur Mark Webber heeft zaterdagmiddag geschiedenis geschreven. Met zijn uitstekende prestatie in de kwalificatie staat er voor het eerst in de geschiedenis een Red Bull Racing-bolide op de eerste startrij. Alleen Heikki Kovalainen in de McLaren was sneller dan de Australiër. Achter hem staat Ferrari-coureur Kimi Raikkonen.

Webber over zijn kwalificatie: "Dit was erg verrassend. Goed, we wisten wel dat we het hele weekend al snel waren geweest. Maar zo snel, op zaterdag, dat is verrassend. Vooral onze tweede sector is erg sterk hier op Silverstone."

Mark Webber denkt een belangrijke slag te hebben geslagen met de naaste concurrenten, Renault en Toyota die allen meedingen om de vierde plaats in het constructeurkampioenschap. Webber hierover tijdens de persconferentie: "Ik denk dat wij een mooie marge hebben nu ten opzichte van onze naaste concurrenten. Niet degenen die direct om ons heen staan, maar bijvoorbeeld Alonso die ook dicht in de buurt staat."

De Red Bull Racing-coureur, die met een fantastische kwalificatie in Engeland zijn nieuwe contract bezegelde voelt zich thuis op Silverstone: "Het voelt hier voor mij, en voor het team wel een beetje als een thuisrace. Voor mij is dit het circuit waarop ik voor het eerst racete toen ik Europa in kwam. We hebben vandaag onze uiterste best gedaan, maar voor mij is dit slechts vijf procent van het hele weekend. Morgen moet het gebeuren, desondanks is dit een prima resultaat."

Mark Webber verzamelde tot op heden het puntentotaal van achttien, daarmee staat hij gelijk met Trulli. Alonso die tien punten heeft is de naaste concurrent van het tweetal. Het gaat naar voren is niet groot, Webber heeft slechts twee punten minder dan de man op pole position morgen, Heikki Kovalainen.

ooh wat zijn ze nou ineens goed! weg met die zeikerds! twee jonge goedkope talenten erin en RBR pakt de constructeurstitel.. dan zijn er geen geld verslindende diva\'s meer maar jonge gemotiveerde talenten! die wil ik zien! niet die meneer \'tis nooit mijn schuld\' DC of \'ik ben een beetje bang want het gaat zo hard\' Webber :s.. volgens mij is mijn mening wel duidelijk!
