Raikkonens zesde startpositie "niet het einde van de wereld"

Het gehele weekend worstelt Kimi Raikkonen al met zijn Ferrari F2008. Tijdens de vrije trainingen verging het de wereldkampioen nog redelijk goed, maar in de top 10-kwalificatie zakte de Fin door het ijs. De McLarens, teamgenoot Felipe Massa en zelfs Jarno Trulli en Fernando Alonso bleken sneller. Maar goed, het is niet het einde van de wereld.

Volgens Luca Baldisserri, Ferraris hoofdengineer, zag ook dat het niet altijd even goed ging met de Fin. Dit hele weekend krijgen we maar niet de juiste set-up te pakken. Daardoor zal Kimi vanaf de derde rij moeten starten. Gelukkig biedt Hockenhein tactisch veel mogelijkheden, zodat we absoluut nog niet kansloos zijn.

Raikkonen zelf heeft ook geen verklaring voor zijn mindere optreden tot nu toe. Het ging tijdens de kwalificatietraining nog best goed toen we met weinig brandstof aan boord reden, maar in de laatste sessie kon ik moeilijk meekomen. Als zesde starten is een onbevredigend resultaat van deze zaterdag, maar er kan nog van alles gebeuren in de race morgen. Het is in elk geval niet het einde van de wereld, zegt de Fin.
