Ferrari stelt onderzoek in naar gebrek aan snelheid

Ferrari-teambaas Stefano Domenicali zit na de Grand Prix van Duitsland vol met vraagtekens. Waarom gaat zijn renstal niet meer zo hard als aan het begin van het seizoen? Hoe kan McLaren nu opeens de opperhand hebben? Wat te doen met de F2008 om er weer een winnende auto van te maken? Die vragen wil de Italiaan zo snel mogelijk beantwoord zien.

Domenicali: Het was een slechte dag voor ons en het heeft geen zin om dat te ontkennen. Onze rivalen waren sneller en we moeten rap uitvogelen hoe dat komt, zonder dat we onszelf daarbij verliezen in een oppervlakkige analyse. Voor het eerst dit seizoen hadden we niet de snelheid in de race waar we op gerekend hadden. We hadden continu een gebrek aan grip en aan het einde van de race werden de remmen van Felipe Massa ook nog eens te warm.

Dat helpt allemaal niet bij het halen van een goed resultaat. De safety car bood ons de mogelijkheid om het over een andere boeg te gooien en ik denk dat we daarin de juiste keuzes hebben gemaakt. Als je snelheid niet goed genoeg is, wordt het moeilijk om hoog te eindigen. We moeten de komende dagen hard en bruikbaar werken om weer op het niveau van twee races geleden te komen.
