Renault heeft geheim Bridgestone-banden achterhaald

Het team van Renault presteert de afgelopen Grands Prix beter omdat de Franse renstal het geheim van de Bridgestone-banden heeft ontrafeld. Dat denkt althans het Duitse blad Auto Motor und Sport. Veel teams hebben dit jaar moeite om de banden constant te laten presteren, maar Renault zou nu de oplossing gevonden hebben.

Het blad observeerde coureurs Fernando Alonso en Nelson Piquet jr nadrukkelijk in Hongarije en bemerkte dat de rijders tijdens de vrije training op zaterdag in de eerste ronden van hun runs opmerkelijk langzaam reden, om pas daarna het gaspedaal vol in te drukken. Dat is volgens Auto Motor und Sport de juiste tactiek om de banden voor te bereiden zodat ze in de race constant presteren en heel blijven.

Komend weekend in Valencia moet Renault bewijzen of het daadwerkelijk de sleutel tot nieuwe successen heeft gevonden. De Franse renstal heeft het al anderhalf jaar moeilijk na het vertrek van partner Michelin uit de Formule 1. Wellicht zijn teambaas Flavio Briatore en zijn mannen nu in staat om met Bridgestone de titels uit 2005 en 2006 te herhalen.
