Raikkonen blijft optimistisch na mislopen top drie-kwalificatie

Kimi Raikkonen haalde vandaag niet de persconferentie voor de top drie-coureurs tijdens de kwalificatie. Deze werd bezet door zijn teamgenoot Massa, Hamilton en BMW-coureur Kubica. Raikkonen denkt echter wel met deze drie coureurs om de winst te kunnen vechten in de straten van Valencia.

Kimi Raikkonen, tweede in de strijd om het wereldkampioenschap en regerend wereldkampioen: "Ik ging hier niet kwalificeren om er met een vierde plaats weg te komen maar daarentegen is deze vierde startpositie ook weer niet het einde van de wereld", blijft de koele Fin optimistisch.

De Ferrari-coureur: "Op dit circuit is een foutje nu eenmaal kostbaar, dat merkte ik wel in het laatste kwalificatiedeel. Ik blokkeerde de wielen van mijn Ferrari op een paar punten. Het was niet een erg groot moment maar toch was het niet bevordelijk voor de rest van mijn ronde."

Kimi Raikkonen denkt de race nog wel te kunnen winnen, zeker met een goede start waarmee hij de verloren posities goedmaakt. Raikkonen hierover: "Nog steeds geloof ik erin dat ik hier kan vechten om de winst. Zeker wanneer ik een goede start weet te maken zijn de kansen op een overwinning wel degelijk aanwezig."
