Luca di Montezemolo staat achter Kimi Raikkonen

Ferrari-directeur Luca di Montezemolo heeft openlijk zijn steun uitgesproken aan het adres van Kimi Raikkonen. De Fin staat al enige tijd onder druk vanwege matige prestaties. Zijn laatste overwinning dateert van april jongstleden en volgens de laatste geruchten zou hij ondanks een geldig contract uit het team gezet worden, ten gunste van Fernando Alonso. Volgens Di Montezemolo is er niets waar van die geruchten.

Di Montezemolo: "Hoe de media op dit moment omgaat met Kimi doet me denken aan Filippo Inzaghi bij Juventus: hij scoorde drie wedstrijden niet en iedereen sprak daarna van een crisis. We moeten niet vergeten dat hij de regerend wereldkampioen is. Hij won het kampioenschap in zijn eerste Ferrari-jaar, terwijl niemand het verwachtte. Er is niets mis met de motivatie van Kimi en we werken eraan om hem verder naar voren te laten starten, wat daar zit het grootste probleem. Ik hoop dat hij zo snel mogelijk weer kan gaan winnen voor ons, het liefst al in Spa-Francorchamps."
