Renault eerste keus voor 2009 voor Alonso

Het team van Renault geniet voorlopig de voorkeur van Fernando Alonso als het gaat over de vraag waar de Spanjaard volgend jaar racet. BMW Sauber en Honda toonden al hun belangstelling, maar de tweevoudig wereldkampioen onthulde op de Spaanse radiozender Cadena Ser dat Renault nu nog de eerste keus is.

Alonso vertelt: Ik probeer de best mogelijke plek voor volgend jaar te vinden. Ik ken hier alle mensen en weet dat dit team goed werk kan leveren. Ze zijn bezig met de nieuwe auto, maar daar heb ik nog niet veel van gezien. Alle teams zijn optimistisch voor 2009. Maar met Renault heb ik twee titels gewonnen en dus is het iets makkelijker om hun verhaal te geloven dan hetgeen de andere teams beweren.

De Spanjaard heeft zijn wens om ooit voor Ferrari uit te komen nooit onder stoelen of banken gestoken, maar de Italiaanse renstal heeft al een duo voor de komende twee jaar. De droom van Alonso bestaat echter nog, alleen zal hij iets langer moeten wachten op een opening.

Ik ben pas 27 jaar en ga nog vele ronden rijden. Als ik nog acht of tien jaar doorga, dan komt de mogelijkheid om voor Ferrari te racen wellicht nog eens. Op dit moment is dat helemaal niet belangrijk, ik moet zorgen dat ik zo snel mogelijk weer een winnende auto krijg. Daar ben ik mee bezig, niet met 2010 of 2011.

Nu nog wel, maar als BMW laat zien dat ze duidelijk betere papieren hebben, dan zal BMW het wel worden. Ik heb niet het idee dat er bij Renault echt toekomst is voor Alonso, hoe graag Renault dat ook zelf wil.

Met alle veranderingen die er aan zitten te komen voor 2009 zijn de kaarten redelijk opnieuw geschud. Het is dus nog maar de vraag of Renault wel zo slecht zal zijn als dit jaar. Iedereen zal flinke veranderingen door gaan voeren, waar iedereen last of lol van gaat hebben.

Daarnaast heeft Renault toch wel 2 jaar een winnende auto geleverd aan Alonso, dat is ie echt niet vergeten.

Dus het lijkt me wat vroeg om Renault nu al af te schrijven.

Vergeet ook niet dat hij een groot deel van zijn salaris 2008 moet inleveren als Renault 4e wordt en Alonso toch weggaat. Denk niet dat BMW dat gaat vergoeden en nog een competatief salaris voor 2009 wil bieden, want dan betalen ze Alonso 2 jaar salaris voor 1 jaar van zijn diensten.

Ik hoop dat Heidfeld het einde van het seizoen mooie plaatsen scoort en bij BMW blijft. Bij een Duits team hoort gewoon een Duitse coureur IMHO
