Afgetroefde Hamilton na VT3: "Circuit in Singapore is fantastisch"

Lewis Hamilton, huidig leider in de strijd om het coureurkampioenschap Formule 1 vindt het debuterende Marina Bay-circuit op de Grand Prix-kalender van 2008 een grote aanwinst. Zoals veel andere coureurs omschrijft Hamilton het circuit als een prachtig circuit op een fenomenale locatie.

Hamilton over het circuit: "Het is een fantastisch evenement hier. Het circuit is prachtig. Helaas is het wel heel hobbelig hier. Gaandeweg de vrije trainingen heb ik de auto goed kunnen afstellen hier, het lijkt alsof je erg laat kunt remmen en dat we als Formule 1-coureurs ook erg veel grip hebben hier. We kunnen nu dus lekker laat remmen in de langzamere bochten."

"Het circuit vereist echt een goede fysieke conditie van de coureurs. Het is zwaarder dan dat ik had verwacht. Je moet een hoop energie in een ronde stoppen om een foutloze ronde te kunnen rijden. Als ik het zou moeten vergelijken met Monaco is het lastiger, absoluut. Een ronde hier voelt als twee ronden op het circuit in Monaco. Het vergt denk ik wel dubbel de energie", aldus Hamilton die de derde vrije training als tweede, wederom achter Alonso afsloot. Alleen in de eerste vrije training was Hamilton nog de snelste geweest, in vrije training twee en dus ook nummer drie werd hij tweede, direct achter oud teamgenoot Fernando Alonso.
