Renault vertrouwt op contractverlenging Alonso

Het team van Renault heeft er alle vertrouwen in dat Fernando Alonso ook in 2009 in dienst van de Franse renstal racet. De Spanjaard houdt momenteel de transfermarkt weer in zijn greep door lang te wachten met zijn beslissing. Maar ondanks belangstelling van Honda en BMW Sauber verwacht technisch directeur Bob Bell dat Alonsos keuze op Renault zal vallen.

Tegenover autosport.com vertelde Bell: Als ik eerlijk ben denk ik dat Fernando het liefst in 2009 in een Ferrari of McLaren zou zitten. Maar ik geloof ook dat we niet alleen op de baan ons best gedaan hebben om hem te bewijzen dat we op de weg terug richting de top zijn, maar ook met onze faciliteiten en de organisatie. Alles is erop gericht om weer te winnen, we zijn niet hier om als veldvulling te dienen. Ik hoop dat we hem daarvan hebben kunnen overtuigen. Ik denk van wel, maar zeker weet ik het niet.

Bell is zeer te spreken over de vooruitgang van Renault: Kijk alleen maar naar de simpele cijfers. Aan het begin van het seizoen waren we in het tweede kwalificatiedeel, het deel waarin iedereen zijn snelste ronde probeert te rijden, een seconde langzamer dan de top. Nu is dat gat nog maar vier tienden. We hebben constant progressie geboekt en dat was een doel voor dit jaar. Nu is het zaak om de vierde plek in het constructeurkampioenschap veilig te stellen.

denk ook dat hij maar beter kan blijven het is een team dat hem past en hij weet de renault toch weer te verbeteren
honda belooft niet veel goeds ,bmw zou een optie zijn
niemand weet wat het volgend jaar word dus blijf waar je bent ,je voelt je daar goed en zorg dat je de auto weer hebt volgend jaar zoals 2 jaar terug,het verleden bewijst dat ze de mc-laren en ferrari kunnen hebben
ik zie alonso met renault weer aan de top de lijn is stijgende
