Alonso klaagt over Portugees asfalt

Op zijn eerste testdag in de nieuwe Renault R29, kan Fernando Alonso geen diepe indruk achterlaten. Alonso reed vandaag zijn snelste ronde in 1:31.743 en is daarmee vijfde en laatste. De verklaring van Alonso: het asfalt is té nieuw, zo vertelt de Spanjaard tegen enkele Spaanse journalisten en F1Today.nl. Officieel mag Alonso niet praten met de pers, maar toch vertelt de voormalig wereldkampioen over de verloop van zijn dag.

Rosberg in de Williams is de snelste van de mannen in een bolide die aan 2009 is aangepast. Hij is daarmee iets meer dan twee seconden sneller dan Alonso. Enigszins ontevreden kijkt de Spanjaard dan ook van zich af, praat nog wat met zijn engineer en dan staat Alonso de enkele aanwezige journalisten te woord in het motorhome van Renault. Alonso vertelt: Dit asfalt is nog te nieuw, daarom is het moeilijk om hier snelle tijden neer te zetten.

De Renault lijkt nu nog weinig grip te hebben in de bochten; met name bij het uitaccelereren is de R29 nerveus. Derhalve is Alonso tevreden over zijn dag. Ondanks dat we niet de snelste waren, kijk ik tevreden terug op deze eerste testdag.
