Renault teleurgesteld ondanks top 10 kwalificatie

Het Renault-team kent tot op heden geen succesvol seizoen. Vorige week in Australië bleek de R29 niet in staat om voorin mee te doen om de prijzen. Ook dit weekend lijkt het erop dat Renault geen vuist kan maken om punten te pakken.

Fernando Alonso had koorts en oorontsteking, maar is goed op weg om te herstellen. Alonso: "Ik had vanochtend geen verhoging meer dus ik voelde me al beter in de wagen. Het resultaat van vandaag, een tiende positie, is toch teleurstellend. Ik had een vijfde of zesde plaats verwacht, maar we doen het beter als vorige week in Melbourne. We zijn niet snel genoeg, we moeten absoluut gaan verbeteren."

Nelson Piquet leek sinds lange tijd naar een goed resultaat te rijden. Toch haalde de Renault-coureur net de tweede kwalificatie niet en stelde daarmee opnieuw teleur. Piquet: "We wisten vanochtend al dat het moeilijk zou worden. Ondanks dat gegeven leek het toch de goede kant op te gaan. In de laatste sector van mijn laatste snelle ronde maakte ik een paar foutjes. Dit kostte mij 3 tot 4 tienden, waardoor ik de tweede kwalificatie door mijn handen zag glippen. Teleurstellend, maar ik moet dit achter me laten en vooruit kijken naar de race van morgen!"

Pat Symonds geeft toe dat de prestaties niet bemoedigend zijn en gooit het op de strategie voor morgen. Symonds: "Het was moeilijk om in de top 10 kwalificatie te komen, maar dat lukte ons met één wagen. Toch zijn de prestaties nog niet goed. We hebben ervoor gekozen om met veel benzine te rijden. Dit geeft ons morgen een voordeel als het weer verandert, waar we uiteraard onze strategie op zullen aanpassen."

Kwalificatieduel tussen Alonso en Piquet is 20-0 voor de Spanjaard! Hoelang zal Nelsinho het hier nog uithouden zeg? Alonso is een bijzonder goede coureur natuurlijk, maar 20-0 he!

jammer dat ze niet zo snel zijn. en piquet moet beetje harder werken als hij zijn plekkie wilt houden

Wat me opvalt is dat de Renault\'s altijd (bijna altijd)
zo zwaar zijn..
Zeker in de top 4 van \"zwaarste auto\'s van het veld\"

Maargoed..
Ik hoop dat Renault snel de auto beter krijgt of dat ze een update hebben...
Want ik had gehoopt dat ze \'eindelijk\' weer zouden meedoen om het kampioenschap...
Maar het kampioenschap is pas net begonnen...

ja hopelijk fit morgen, oorinfectie niet niets voor een coureur.
renault moet echt die auto iets beter maken, kampioenschap wordt mooier als alonso ook mee voor de titel kan strijden.
