Fernando Alonso optimistisch voor de rest van het seizoen

Het team van Renault probeert net als vorig jaar zichzelf te herpakken na een matige eerste seizoenshelft. Coureur Fernando Alonso heeft er in elk geval veel vertrouwen in. De pole position in Hongarije was een positief teken en de tweevoudig wereldkampioen denkt dat podiumplekken en wellicht zelfs een zege later dit jaar niet onmogelijk zijn.

Alonso: We hebben vorig jaar bewezen dat alles mogelijk is in de Formule 1. Renault heeft aangetoond over de capaciteit te beschikken om de auto te verbeteren en de juiste richting in te slaan. Ik zie dan ook geen reden om niet optimistisch te zijn voor de rest van dit seizoen. Hopelijk pakken we nog wat podiumplekken en misschien zelfs wel een overwinning.

Over de titelstrijd zegt de Spanjaard: Moeilijk om dat in te schatten door het voordeel dat Red Bull Racing nu heeft, maar ik zet mijn geld voor de titel nog steeds op Jenson Button. Hij is de grote favoriet. Hij heeft een grote voorsprong en voor Red Bull Racing wordt het lastig om constant eerste en tweede te eindigen.
