Theissen: "Kubica en Heidfeld zijn versterking voor elk team"

BMW Sauber-teambaas Mario Theissen gelooft niet dat het stoppen van BMW tegelijk ook een einde betekent van de Formule 1-loopbaan van rijders Robert Kubica en Nick Heidfeld. Tegen persbureau DPA verklaarde hij: Robert en Nick zijn snel, ambitieus en ervaren. Ze zijn voor elk team een versterking en staan volgend jaar gewoon op de grid.

Heidfeld hoopt zijn toekomst veilig te stellen met een goed restant van 2009. Mijn ervaring geeft mij een voordeel. Na tien jaar in de Formule 1 beschik ik over veel technische kennis. Afgezien van het feit dat ik coureurs als Kimi Raikkonen, Felipe Massa en Mark Webber verslagen heb toen ze mijn teamgenoot waren, is het nu belangrijk om in de resterende races goed te presteren. In de Formule 1 is elke Grand Prix een sollicitatie.
