Massa krijgt groen licht voor test, racen in Abu Dhabi uitgesloten

De doktoren van de internationale autosportbond FIA hebben Ferrari-coureur Felipe Massa toestemming gegeven om vandaag met een F2007 te testen. De Braziliaan is voldoende hersteld van de verwondingen die hij aan zijn crash tijdens de kwalificatie voor de Hongaarse Grand Prix overhield. Ferrari sluit echter uit dat hij dit jaar nog in actie komt.

De Italiaanse renstal stelt in een verklaring: Het medische team van de FIA, geleid door professor Jean-Charles Piette, voerde neurologische controles uit bij Felipe en de uitkomst daarvan was positief. Maandag neemt Felipe de volgende stap in zijn revalidatieproces door achter het stuur van een F2007 te kruipen voor een test op Fiorano.

De goedkeuring voor deze test betekent echter niet dat Felipe in de komende twee maanden alweer in competitie in actie mag komen. Felipe en het team willen het herstel stap voor stap nemen en rustig aan doen. Een terugkeer zal daarom pas begin 2010 aan de orde zijn, pas dan ondergaat Felipe de definitieve FIA-controle voor een geblesseerde coureur die weer wil racen.
