Wolff zinspeelt op grotere betrokkenheid bij Williams

Toto Wolff kocht zich vorige week in bij het team van Williams. De Oostenrijker nam een minderheidsaandeel in de Britse renstal, maar beschikt over opties om zijn betrokkenheid de komende jaren te vergroten. Teameigenaren Frank Williams en Patrick Head worden namelijk ook een dagje ouder en ze willen vast graag dat het team blijft bestaan.

Daar wil Wolff wel voor zorgen, zo vertrouwde hij Der Standard toe. Dit is niet een simpele transactie waarbij ik een bepaald percentage van de aandelen heb bemachtigd. Het was nodig om een model te creëren waarbij ik via opties mijn betrokkenheid in de komende jaren kan uitbreiden. Frank en Patrick zijn ouder dan zestig en ze moeten denken aan de volgende generatie en de toekomst van hun bedrijf. Ze weten dat ik in tegenstelling tot andere investeerders oog heb voor de lange termijn. Voor Williams was dit een goede kans om de toekomst van het team veilig te stellen en voor mij was dit de gelegenheid om in te stappen bij een topteam. Een win-win situatie dus.
